House: Musical Massive Attack
Fans of the Fox medical drama series House have long been aware of not just the curmudgeonly antics of the maverick medical genius and anti-hero Gregory House, but also the musical mood pieces that play throughout the series, setting the tone for numerous scenes. From the dark and slightly ominous opening sequence featuring an excerpt from “Teardrop” by Massive Attack, to the Rolling Stones classic “You Can’t Always Get What You Want,” devotees of the show will be reminded of specific moments in the series. House first trying to get by without his cane and falling down paralyzed with the pain in his leg; tossing a pill of Vicodin high into the air, the camera angle directly over him as it descends back down; and House himself jamming away on the piano.

The music from the show can now be found in an original soundtrack for sale, which features multiple songs taken from various episodes. The soundtrack is produced and will be released by Nettwerk Records, a record company based in Vancouver, British Columbia. A number of recording artists and their musical talents will

be featured, among them Lucinda Williams, Sarah McLachlan, Elvis Costello, and Ben Harper.

Also notably featured on the album is Band From TV, a musical group composed of House’s British lead Hugh Laurie, Bonnie Summerville from Cashmere Mafia, James Denton from Desperate Housewives, Greg Grunberg from Heroes, and Bob Guinney from The Bachelor. The group performs a cover of the aforementioned Rolling Stones song, “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.” Samples from the soundtrack can be found by logging onto the official Fox.com website, as well as a free download of one song, “God, Please Let Me Go Back.” The album even has its own official where you can also listen to different tracks, located at http://myspace.com/housesoundtrack, and is set for its official release on September 18.
