Nudist Author Has Rebuttal For Paris Hilton
(ContentDesk) June 18, 2004 -- Lisa Bonnice, in her book Addressing the Goo--the metaphysics of weight loss, explains that nudism is one of the best ways to learn body acceptance by exposing us to what real people's bodies look like. Unless she dies young, or risks death with plastic surgery, even the lovely Paris will look old someday. Will she gross out when she looks at herself in the mirror? Unless she grows up a bit, she certainly will.The author adds that this attitude is what drives many women to eating disorders--the feeling that their bodies aren't good enough unless they look like centerfold material. Once the Simple Life stars have a child or two, she continues, they can kiss those "young, hot" bodies goodbye. "Contrary to Paris' belief, the real world doesn't revolve around Hollywood expectations. Some of us have better things to do than fret about whether thinks we're gross." Bonnice says."It's this childish attitude that perpetuates the notion that we have to strive for a body that is not ours and never will be. I wish the girls had come away from the experience with a greater acceptance of what a real human body looks like," Bonnice
states, "especially since the resort went out of their way to hold a body-acceptance seminar specifically for Ms. Hilton and Richie." Richie was even quoted as saying, "We watched this body acceptance course where all the old, naked people talked about how they loved their bodies."In addition, Paris and Nicole visited an unusual nudist resort, one that is nothing like the norm. They visited Caliente Resort (where the author actually worked for a short time), which is an extremely upscale resort that caters to the wealthy. The fact that it is in Florida, retirement capital of the Universe, added to the fact that the patrons were all "old." A typical nudist resort is very similar to an RV park/campground, with families and people of all ages--they just happen to be nude and comfortable with their bodies, no matter what they look like.Hilton, by the way, is only 23. Bonnice lives at a another nudist resort, near Caliente Resort.
